Reggae/Soca Artiste Khari Obafemi Williams aka "Khari Kill" was born on May 9, 1975, in the twin island of Trinidad and Tobago to the parents of Maxine Sullivan and Anthony Williams. Mr. Williams grew up in Digeo Martin (Factory Road) and St. James (Candahar Hill & St. James Main Road) during his early childhood years. By the age of nine he moved to the East in La Horquetta with his family. Mr. Williams then attended elementary and high school in the Arima area. Interestingly enough, Mr. Williams praises his skillful story telling to his mother and other family members at night, for his song writing talent. Eventually his story narrations inspired him to venture into music, and at the age of thirteen Mr. Williams started to write his own songs. Now an accomplished artiste in the entertainment world "Khari Kill" has evolved into an enterprising and brilliant entertainer.
In 1994 Khari relocated to Brooklyn, New York where his children currently resides. In 2005 the artiste "Kari Kill" emerged into a force to be reckoned with when he recorded his first hit single "Picture of Selassie I," on the "Truth and Rights Rhythm" produced by the "Massive B Label" which became number one on the music charts in 2005 and 2006. Soon his diligence and talent confirmed that he was highly prepared and capable to keep delivering as a big name in the industry. After his hit tune Mr. Williams collaborated songs with Egyptian, Killer Priest, Jah Bami and Capa Dona from Wu Tang. Thus, he shared the stage with artistes such as Machel Montano, Jah Bami, Sizzla, Midnight, Humble, Isasha, Million Voice, Swiss Beatz, Zebelun, Luciano, Bascom X, Buju Banton and many more.
Certainly a very talented, and intellectual individual he takes great pride in his artistic career, and works tenaciously to maintain the longitudinal growth of his success. In fact to steer his musical ship in the right direction he has worked with some eminent music producers like Massive B from Hot 97.1 FM, Bobby Digital in Jamaica, I - Dwell Records in California, and El - Paw Records, just to name a few. In addition, Mr. Williams prefers to be an independent artiste, but he has worked with record label companies in the past like "Studio 53," "Karrosive," "Bluelava Entertainment," and "Zion Studios" from Staten Island, New York where he recorded "Picture of Selassie I." Overall, Mr. Williams considers himself to be a versatile performer who has the abilities to sing different genres of music.
For Mr. Williams singing is not his only talent, he can also play the guitar beautifully , and he draws breath-taking portraits in his spear time. Further more, he is a universal artiste who tours around the world throughout the year. Some of his concerts has taken him to Costa Rica, Canada, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, and France. He also performs in the United States in New York City, Boston, Miami, California, and the list goes on. "Khari Kill" is famously recognized and honored as one of Trinidad and Tobago's top reggae artiste who possess the attribute of greatness, and he is labeled as one of the most influential and talented entertainers in the business. His music takes a creative approach in respect to inspiring ghetto youths to stay focus and praise their most high "Selassie I." One song in particular that many young men relate to is "Ms. Mary's Grandson" from his 2007 "Outta D Ghetto" CD release.
Despite Mr. Williams's phenomenal success, he rightfully took a two years break just to relax, unwind and enjoy his family. This decision occurred after he organized an ambitious and indoustrious concert called "Ah Cah Wait" in his homeland of Trinidad and Tobago in 2006, 2007 and 2008. His main goal and initiatives for the stage show was primarily to set an exemplary standard for both established and up-and-coming reggae artistes in Trinidad and Tobago. However, after all of his hard work and financial investments during the concerts he sadly refrained himself from the spotlight when the show did not receive the respect that was needed. He immediately conquered and returned to New York City to continue his music and filled the space that was left empty of his graceful presence.
Presently, Mr. Williams is vibrantly writing and recording his songs in the studio. He has no plans on disappearing from the public's eyes, and he wants his fans to know that he is ready to continue to construct sweet melodies for their listening pleasure once again. He recently stated "I love what I do, I create joy and harmony in my music, and I would never give it up for any other career in the world." With that said, Mr. Willams is now under new management by "Prestige Production LLC," and he looks forward in working with them, and plans on taking a new approach with his music career now and in the near future.
As a matter of fact, even though he is famously known as a culture reggae artiste, Mr. Williams embraces his roots in the soca arena as well. "Khari Kill" is now more than ever mentally and physically ready to introduce his new soca rhythms for Carnival 2012 in Trinidad and Tobago. He recently did a remake of a groovey soca living tribute edition, of the legendary "Supa Blue's" Ethel, called "Ethel 2012." He also has original rhythms such as "Johnnie Black", an up - tempo soca called "Selector Play Something Fast" and a collaboration with "Niko" former X-tatic band saxaphone player, called "Meh Diamond Shades." In conclusion, to describe Khari Obafemi Williams would entail a courageous, ambitious, intelligent, talented, out-spoken, caring human being with an infectious smile and a good heart. Blessed love always!
